Jobillico

The field survey agent must be motivated by the hands-on side of telecommunications network deployment, and consequently by outdoor work in sometimes difficult weather conditions and hard-to-access locations. They support the design operations of our civil engineering team. Their objective is to accurately survey outside plant network information and validate the feasibility of telecommunications network design projects.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Identify the field surveys required for each project, in collaboration with the designer in charge, based on client standards and current legislation
  • Carry out detailed field surveys of aerial structures and visible underground network structures
  • Photograph each structure to validate the surveys
  • Prepare detailed plans to illustrate specific field conditions
  • Obtain public structure location plans for the designer when needed
  • Enter field-collected data into a project file for the designer
  • Document possible route alternatives and identify the most efficient and cost-effective ones
  • Assess potential field risks during network deployment and make the necessary decisions
  • Work with the designer to resolve potential issues during network deployment
  • Verify equipment installation at the end of projects

Required skills

The designer must be motivated by the hands-on side of telecommunications network deployment. They support the operations of our civil engineering team in the design of outside plant networks, and assist the civil engineer in preparing plans and specifications in accordance with current civil engineering standards.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Prepare load calculations
  • Prepare UDS records
  • Prepare plans and specifications in accordance with regulations, CSA standards, and Hydro-Québec and Bell Canada standards
  • Prepare plans
  • Assist the engineer in delivering projects to clients
  • Prepare cost estimates for future projects
  • Continuously improve work methods

Job requirements

  • College diploma (DEC) in civil, mechanical or structural engineering
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the telecommunications field

The civil engineer must be motivated by the hands-on side of telecommunications network deployment. They plan, design, develop and lead outside plant telecommunications network design projects, and ensure plans and specifications comply with current civil engineering standards.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Meet with clients and other engineering team members and conduct research to determine project requirements
  • Provide civil engineering services in the field
  • Ensure that plans meet guidelines, building code requirements and other regulations
  • Prepare project schedules and ensure they are followed
  • Supervise the work of technicians, technologists and other engineers, and review and approve design work, calculations and cost estimates
  • Review, approve and sign off on load calculations
  • Review, approve and sign off on UDS records
  • Review plans and specifications in accordance with regulations, CSA standards, and Hydro-Québec and Bell Canada standards

The coordination agent must be motivated by the hands-on side of telecommunications network deployment. They must obtain, as quickly as possible, all authorizations required to carry out projects.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Analyze project plans and documents
  • Complete right-of-way permit applications with utility companies
  • Submit and follow up on consent requests to municipalities, the ministry of transportation and railway companies
  • Update data in project tracking software
  • Any other related duties

Required skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office, SAP and Smallworld
  • Proficiency with WebDUSS and online CSEM (permit applications)
  • Knowledge of current standards and legislation in the construction and telecommunications fields

The designer must be motivated by the hands-on side of telecommunications network deployment. They design telecommunications networks that are optimal in terms of quality, compliance with current standards and cost, all while meeting delivery deadlines.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Analyze projects and gather the information needed to carry them out
  • Advise the coordinator on project feasibility and provide recommendations
  • Design fiber optic networks according to client specifications while complying with current standards
  • Make corrections identified by technical support or the coordinator
  • Identify the authorizations and rights-of-way needed, prepare the required files and hand them off to coordination agents
  • Identify innovative solutions to issues encountered during projects
  • Communicate any changes and project progress to the coordinator
  • Update SAP and Smallworld databases (fiber and coaxial designer)
  • Prepare project management reports, including entering metrics for the coordinator's approval
  • Justify any hour or deadline overruns
  • Support other designers as needed
  • Provide technical advice to clients when needed
